Alberta opened Canada’s second regulated online gambling market on 13 July 2026. It is the first province since Ontario in 2022 to let private operators take real-money casino and sportsbook bets under provincial licence, and the framework it built is not a copy of Ontario’s.
This page is a register, not a recommendation list. It tracks who is registered to operate in Alberta, under which regulator, and as of what date. Every figure below carries the date we checked it. Alberta rules restrict where operator bonuses may be advertised, so this page deliberately carries no offers, no sign-up links and no promotional codes. What changed on 13 July 2026
The iGaming Alberta Act (SA 2025, c I-0.2) received Royal Assent on 15 May 2025 and created the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Two bodies now share the work, and conflating them is the most common error in coverage of this market:
- AGLC — Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis. The regulator. It sets the Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming (SRIG), runs background checks, issues operator and supplier registrations, and enforces compliance.
- AiGC — the Alberta iGaming Corporation. An independent Crown corporation reporting to the Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction. It conducts and manages the market, signs the commercial operating agreements, handles anti-money-laundering obligations and revenue share, and publishes the player-facing directory of registered sites.
An operator needs both. AGLC registration alone does not put a site live; the AiGC commercial agreement has to be executed as well. That two-step structure is why the registration count and the live-site count do not match, which we cover below.
The Government of Alberta announced the market launched with 22 registered sites, and estimated that before launch roughly 70 per cent of Alberta online gambling ran through unregulated operators. Revenue is split 80 per cent to operators and 20 per cent to government, calculated after 3 per cent of gross gaming revenue is allocated — 2 per cent to First Nations initiatives and 1 per cent to social responsibility programmes.
AiGC-registered iGaming sites in Alberta
These are the consumer-facing sites in AiGC’s official player directory, transcribed exactly as published and checked on 21 August 2026. Destinations are shown as plain text rather than links: this is a reference table, and we do not send traffic to operators we hold no relationship with.
The directory carries 27 listings covering 24 distinct brand names and 25 distinct destinations. Bet365, FanDuel and theScore each hold two listings because AiGC lists their casino and sportsbook products separately. Caesars Palace Casino, Caesars Sportsbook and Horseshoe Casino are three listings pointing at one destination. Play Alberta, the AGLC-run platform, is not in this directory even though it holds an AGLC operator registration.

AGLC iGaming operator registrations
AGLC’s corporate register lists legal entities, not brands. It is the authoritative record of who is registered, and it is a different list from the one above — a registered entity may run several sites, one site, or none yet.
Checked 21 August 2026: 39 entities hold an iGaming – Operator registration. 35 of those carry a 13 July 2027 expiry, which under AGLC’s renewal rule means they were effective at market go-live. 3 were granted after launch. Play Alberta carries no expiry date.
We derive the effective date from the expiry date because AGLC states the annual renewal date is set from either the go-live date or the date registration was issued, whichever applies. That derivation is ours, not AGLC’s, and it is flagged as such in the table.

Why published operator counts disagree
Coverage of this market has quoted 22, 28, 35 and 50 operators, all in the same eight weeks, and the numbers are not errors so much as different questions. Alberta publishes two registers that count different things, and neither is wrong.

Alongside the 39 operator registrations, AGLC’s register today holds 60 Critical Gaming Systems Provider registrations, 16 Platform Provider registrations and 17 in Goods or Services Supplier – Other. Counting operators and suppliers together is the most likely route to a headline figure near 50.
How Alberta differs from Ontario
Ontario’s regime is iGaming Ontario under the AGCO. Alberta’s is the Alberta iGaming Corporation under AGLC. The shapes rhyme, the details do not, and the minimum age is genuinely different.

The rules that affect players

Two of these carry more weight than they look. The 18 minimum is a year lower than Ontario’s and matches Alberta’s land-based age. The cryptocurrency prohibition is absolute on registered sites, which puts the entire regulated Alberta market outside the scope of our crypto casinos Canada guide.
Self-exclusion
Alberta runs a centralised self-exclusion programme through AGLC. It is free, voluntary, and it blocks access across every regulated Alberta iGaming site, every land-based casino and every racing entertainment centre at once — you enrol once through AGLC’s portal at selfexclusion.ca rather than site by site.
Integration is not optional for operators: every registered operator must connect to the AGLC self-exclusion API before AiGC will sign its operating agreement. That single-enrolment design is the clearest player-protection advantage the regulated market holds over offshore sites, where self-exclusion stops at the boundary of one brand.

What this means for offshore sites
Before July, Alberta was a grey market: Play Alberta was the only domestically licensed option and offshore operators filled the rest, on the government’s own estimate taking about 70 per cent of play. That is the position most casino guides still describe, and it is now out of date.
Two things are worth stating carefully, because they are easy to overstate. First, AiGC’s operator guidance requires an applicant to cease unregulated Alberta activity and return player balances by 13 July 2026 — but that obligation is addressed to operators seeking registration, and it is not the same as a blanket statement that every offshore site is now unlawful for a player to use. Second, we are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. What is certain is that a registered site now offers Albertans provincial dispute resolution, segregated trust accounts and centralised self-exclusion, and an unregistered one does not.

How this page is maintained
A register is only worth citing if it is current, so the maintenance schedule is published rather than implied:
- The AiGC site directory and the AGLC operator register are re-checked monthly, and the check date at the top of each table is updated whether or not anything moved.
- Both are re-checked within 48 hours of any Government of Alberta or AGLC announcement affecting registrations.
- Additions and removals are dated. When an entity leaves the register we record that it left rather than deleting the row silently.
- Every row is transcribed as published. No row is added, removed or inferred, and no field is filled by guesswork. Where a figure is our derivation rather than the regulator’s, the table says so.
- We do not map AGLC legal entities to consumer brands unless the regulator publishes the link. Several obvious-looking pairings are inferences, and inferences do not belong in a reference table.
