How Newcasino.ai reviews online casinos — the complete methodology. No paid reviews. No soft scoring. Every casino we actively recommend has been deposit-tested by our editor. Newer partners we have not yet hands-on tested are clearly marked as Desk review — see the two-tier system below.

Our Two-Tier Review System

We separate every casino review on this site into one of two clearly-labelled tiers. The label appears at the top of every review page and on every comparison table.

Tier What we have verified Where it can appear
Editor deposit-tested
✓ Verified
Tom Perkins has personally registered, deposited, played, and withdrawn at this casino. Every test is logged with date, payment method, and observed payout time in the Editor Test Log. Top picks, hero recommendations, comparison-table top rows, sticky CTAs, full proof box with deposit evidence.
Desk review
⚠ Desk review
Operator company, licence number, geo eligibility, payment methods, bonus terms, and withdrawal caps verified from primary documents (operator fact sheet, licence URL, T&Cs). Editor has not personally deposited — typically because the casino restricts UK players (where our editor is based) or the brand launched too recently for the test rotation. Standalone review pages with a Desk review badge at the top, plus “Also worth considering” sections on hubs. Never placed in Top picks, hero, sticky CTAs, or comparison-table top rows.

The two-tier system means readers can take our Top picks at full strength — they are deposit-tested by name, by date, by payment method — while still getting honest editorial coverage of newer partners we are tracking but have not personally been able to test. We never blur the line.

The Six-Point Review Framework

Every casino review on this site is scored across six dimensions. Each has equal weight — we don’t let a single strength (e.g., a huge bonus) paper over multiple weaknesses (e.g., slow payouts, weak licence).

Dimension What We Measure Weight
Licence strength Which jurisdiction regulates? Is it verifiable? MGA > UKGC > Ontario iGaming > Curaçao > Costa Rica > Anjouan 20%
Bonus terms Wagering multiplier, max bet with bonus, game contribution, expiry period, max cashout 20%
Payout speed Tested withdrawal time via Interac/PayID/Trustly/crypto — actual receipt, not promised time 20%
Game library Number of unique titles, provider mix, RTP disclosure, jackpot availability 15%
Geo-fit Does the casino actually support local currency + payments in each geo we cover? 15%
Support + trust signals Live chat hours, complaint resolution history, years operating, awards history 10%

The Actual Review Process

Step 1: Licence verification

Before any test deposit, I check the casino’s licence number against the actual regulator’s database. MGA licences are verified at authorisation.mga.org.mt, Curaçao licences via the master licensor (Antillephone or GCB), and so on. If the licence number doesn’t match what’s shown on the casino site, the review stops there.

Step 2: Account signup — what I look for

  • How much personal data they ask for at signup (excess is a red flag)
  • Whether they force KYC before first deposit or after
  • Whether the bonus terms are clear BEFORE you claim
  • Whether the welcome bonus is opt-in or auto-applied (auto-applied = frequent trap)

Step 3: Real deposit + play

Every casino gets a test deposit. I use Interac or Trustly where supported, crypto otherwise — for the Canadian operators we cover, the Interac casino deposits guide tracks which brands accept the rail and how the timing actually plays out. I then play at least 20 slot spins at <1% of bonus amount to verify game contribution, then try a live dealer round, then check the cashier page for withdrawal options while the bonus is active.

Step 4: Withdrawal test

After wagering is complete (or from real winnings without a bonus), I initiate a withdrawal. I note:

  • Time from request to approval (most KYC delays happen here)
  • Time from approval to funds received
  • Any fees charged on the withdrawal
  • Whether withdrawal is processed in the currency I deposited or forced to EUR

Step 5: Support ticket test

I send a live chat question and an email question to measure response time and quality. A casino that can’t answer a simple bonus question in <10 minutes on live chat gets marked down.

What Disqualifies a Casino Entirely

Some practices are dealbreakers. No matter how good everything else is, we will not recommend a casino that meets any of the criteria below — the operators that have already failed these checks are catalogued on our casino sites to avoid list.

  1. Runs unlicensed — or cannot produce a verifiable licence number
  2. Uses lower-RTP versions of games without disclosing — some Curaçao casinos run 94.5% Book of Dead while MGA sites run 96.21%. If you don’t disclose this, you’re deceiving players.
  3. Has predatory bonus terms like 60x+ wagering on deposit+bonus with max €2 bet and 7-day expiry
  4. Takes longer than 7 days to process a standard withdrawal (from approval, not from request)
  5. Has documented complaint patterns on AskGamblers/Casino.Guru with no resolution
  6. Targets players in restricted jurisdictions (Ontario players with unlicensed operators, UK players with non-UKGC sites)

Affiliate Disclosure

Newcasino.ai earns commissions from some casino links. Here’s exactly how we handle this:

  • Our ratings are determined by the six-point framework above — never by commission rate
  • We have refused partnerships with casinos that scored below 7/10 in our testing, even when they offered premium CPA rates
  • Where we recommend a casino, the affiliate link is clearly marked with sponsored nofollow HTML attributes
  • We disclose affiliate relationships in every review and on the full disclosure page

Why You Can Trust This

The iGaming content industry is flooded with affiliate-paid reviews and content farms masquerading as editorial sites. Newcasino.ai is independently operated by one person — me, Tom Perkins — and everything on this site reflects actual testing across Canada, Australia, Ireland, and Norway.

I don’t accept payments for placements. I don’t copy bonus claims from casino marketing pages — I read the actual T&Cs and translate them into plain English with the traps highlighted.

If you ever find a factual error on this site, email me directly at tom@newcasino.ai and it gets fixed within 24 hours.

This methodology was last updated April 2026. As the iGaming regulatory landscape evolves (Ontario iGaming expansion, Norway monopoly debates, Australian BetStop enforcement), this page will be updated accordingly. The core principle — test before recommending, document every weakness, never let commission rates override quality — stays the same.
