The short answer (register read 17 October 2026): the Anjouan Gaming Authority’s public licence register listed 1,295 Internet Gaming Licences, and every one of them carries the status “valid”. There is no other status value anywhere in the data. 124 of those entries have an expiry date that has already passed, by between 1 and 143 days, and they cover 332 domains between them. A further 114 entries expire within the next 30 days. The regulator’s own status-definitions page describes an “Expired” category; no entry on the register uses it. If you are checking a casino’s Anjouan licence, the status badge tells you nothing on its own. Read the expiry date.

This is our second dated reading of the register. On 18 September 2026 it held 1,527 entries, all “valid”, 340 of them past expiry, the oldest by fourteen months. Since then it has shrunk by 232 entries and the past-expiry count has fallen to 124; every entry that expired in 2025 is gone. We record what changed. The data does not say why, and we do not guess.

Dataset: anjouan-register-audit-2026-10-17.csv · anjouan-register-audit-2026-10-17.json (all 1,295 entries, CC BY 4.0). This is a data record: no casino offers, no brand names.

What the register shows

The register lives at anjouangaming.com/license-register/. Each entry has seven fields: company, status, licence number, type, issue date, expiry date and domains. The page shows 25 rows at a time, but the full dataset is embedded in the page itself, which is what we read. On 17 October 2026 it contained:

  • 1,295 entries from 1,294 companies; numbers start with ALSI-.
  • By type: 1,074 B2C, 169 B2B, 28 “b2b & b2c” and 24 “b2c, b2b & whitelabeling”.
  • By status: 1,295 “valid”. Nothing else.
  • 3,654 domains; 43 entries list none. One licence can carry one storefront or sixty.
  • Terms (issue to expiry): 698 one-year, 403 two-year, 188 three-year, 6 four-year.
  • 124 entries past expiry, all still “valid”: 111 B2C, 8 B2B, 5 combined. Median 18 days past; 46 more than 30 days, 3 more than 90. Expiries fall on batch dates: 32 on 15 September 2026, 30 on 15 October 2026, 24 on 29 September 2026.
  • 114 entries expire between 17 October and 16 November 2026, covering 314 domains.

What “valid” appears to mean

The Authority publishes a Licence Status Definitions page with four categories: Active, Suspended, Revoked and Expired. It defines Expired as a licence whose “validity period has ended and the licence has not been renewed”, and states that only an Active licence holder is authorised to operate. The register does not use any of those four words. It uses “valid”, and it applies it to all 1,295 entries, including the 124 whose expiry date has passed.

The register’s own display code can show three badge styles (“valid”, “suspended”, anything else); the data simply contains one. The Authority’s Suspended Licences and Revoked Licences pages showed table headings and no rows in the HTML we retrieved the same day. Its Registry Disclaimer says the register “is updated periodically and may not reflect changes that have occurred since the most recent update”.

Three readings of a past-expiry entry are therefore possible: a renewal processed but not yet published; a lapsed licence whose status was never updated; or a grace period not described publicly. The register does not say which applies to any entry, and on 18 September one entry sat fourteen months past its date and still “valid”, which publishing lag alone does not explain. Under all three readings the conclusion is the same: the status field is not a test of anything, and the expiry date is.

The 25 longest-expired entries still shown as “valid”

Sorted by expiry date (oldest first), then by domain count; “days past” runs to 17 October 2026, and up to three domains are shown per entry (the dataset has them all). Some holders appear under a Costa Rican company registration number, which is how the register lists them. Nothing here says a site is operating without a licence: a lapsed entry is a fact about the register, not a finding about the operator, which may hold a renewal not yet published or a licence elsewhere.

Companies with the most domains

Ten licences account for 455 of the register’s 3,654 domains. A licence check is therefore a domain check: is the exact domain you are playing on listed under the entry?

What this means when you check a casino’s licence

  1. Take the domain from your address bar, not from the footer badge. The search box matches company, licence number, domain, type and status; the domain is the quickest key.
  2. Search by that domain. Try it without “www” too. No result means the Authority has not been notified of that domain under any licence.
  3. Read the expiry date yourself. Ignore the badge. If the date has passed, treat the licence as unverified until the operator gives you a current number and the register shows it.
  4. Match the exact domain. One licence can list dozens of sites; sharing a holder with a listed domain is not the same as being listed.
  5. Note the date you checked. Between our two reads 232 entries left the register and most previously lapsed entries were renewed or removed.

How the regime compares with others is on our licence comparison; the licence each casino we review states, checked by domain where a register allows it, is on the casino licence tracker.

What changed since 18 September 2026

  • Entries: 1,527 on 18 September, 1,295 on 17 October (-232). Domains: 4,097 then, 3,654 now.
  • Past-expiry entries: 340 then (66 with a 2025 expiry, 274 with a 2026 expiry), 124 now (all 2026). The oldest lapsed entry was dated 18 July 2025; it is now 27 May 2026. Domains on lapsed entries fell from 882 to 332.
  • The ten largest lapsed entries of 18 September: 5 now show a 2027 expiry date, 2 are still listed with the same lapsed date, and 3 are no longer on the register under their number or their company name.
  • The register’s largest entry (67 domains on 12 September) lists 64 today: 7 removed, 4 added, licence unchanged. Domain lists move under a live licence, another reason to search by domain.
  • Our 18 September file kept only summary figures, so we cannot list every licence number that appeared or disappeared. The 17 October dataset stores every entry; the next reading can.

How we read the register

We retrieved anjouangaming.com/license-register/ on 17 October 2026 with an ordinary browser user agent, took the full dataset the page embeds for its own table (1,295 records, seven fields), and compared each expiry date with 17 October 2026. An entry is past expiry when its date is earlier than that day; the 30-day count includes entries dated 17 October itself. Domain counts split the register’s domains field on commas, nothing added or removed. No login, no CAPTCHA. The 18 September figures come from our dated record of that read.

Conflict of interest: NewCasino.ai holds affiliate relationships with casinos whose domains appear on this register. None of those domains sits on a past-expiry entry on this read. This page names no casino brand, partner or otherwise; the dataset lists every domain so anyone can check any site, including the ones we work with.

Frequently asked questions

Does “valid” on the Anjouan register mean the licence is in force?

Not on its own. On 17 October 2026 all 1,295 entries carried that status, including 124 past their expiry date, one by 143 days. The Authority’s definitions page uses “Active” and “Expired”; the register uses neither. The expiry date is the field that carries information.

How do I check whether a casino’s Anjouan licence has expired?

Open the register, search for the exact domain in your address bar, and read the expiry date on the entry that lists it. If the date has passed, or the domain is not listed, ask the casino for its current licence number and check again. Do not rely on a footer seal or on the status badge.

Why would a register show expired licences as valid?

The register does not say. The Authority states that it updates the register periodically, so some entries may be renewals not yet published; others may be lapsed licences whose status was never changed. Between 18 September and 17 October most older lapsed entries were renewed with a 2027 date or removed, which fits both explanations.

Is an expired entry proof that a casino is unlicensed?

No. It means the register shows a licence whose stated term has ended and whose status was not updated. The operator may hold a renewal not yet published, or a licence from another regulator. This page makes no finding about any individual casino; it describes the register.
